Vlah accused the police of disrupting the start of her election campaign in Moldova.

Vlah accused the police of disrupting the start of her election campaign in Moldova.

The former head of the Gagauz autonomy, Irina Vlah, accused the police of trying, at the behest of the authorities, to disrupt the start of her campaign as a candidate for the presidency of Moldova.

“The police are not letting us through to the event site! Today in the village of Naslavcha the official start of my campaign for the presidential election is planned. The event should take place at the observation deck “Heart of the Dniester”. Maie , this is already agony,” Vlah wrote on the social network, addressing the current president Maie Sandu.

The police have already responded to this statement and deny involvement in this event.

“The police condemn these accusations, calling them unfounded, manipulative and humiliating. The police did not intervene or have any contact with the people there. Moreover, we encourage the election competitor to substantiate his accusations by at least publishing some video clips or photographs of the police officer who allegedly interfered with the event,” a statement published on the police Telegram channel said.

The next presidential elections will take place in Moldova on October 20, and on the same day a referendum on the country’s accession to the EU will be held. 11 candidates are registered for the elections: in addition to Sandu, these are former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo, ex-prime ministers Vasily Tarlev and Ion Chicu, former head of Gagauzia Irina Vlah, ex-Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Nastase, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Tudor Ulyanovski, ex-Minister of Youth and Sports Octavian Tsyku, ex-prosecutor Victoria Furtune, leader of the Our Party political force Renato Usatii and journalist Natalia Morari.
