Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached its highest level in four years following the assassination attempt, now at 40%, according to a survey conducted jointly by ABC and Ipsos. 


Trump’s approval rating rose to 40% after the assassination attempt, according to the poll, which the network reported was the highest since August 2020, when 42% of Americans approved of his performance.

At the same time, the survey results show that the approval rating of current US President Joe Biden is 8 percentage points lower than Trump’s current rating and amounts to 32%. The survey results show that 55% of US residents disapprove of Biden’s activities, while 51% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s activities.

“Trump’s approval rating has risen to 40% amid the events of last week (the assassination attempt),” the channel notes.


Also, a poll by the channel and Ipsos shows that 60% of Democratic Party supporters want Biden to “withdraw from the presidential race.” At the same time, the number of Republicans who want to continue his election campaign is more than Democrats by 5 percentage points (44% versus 39%).

According to the survey, 38% of US residents believe that Trump will cope with the task of “unifying” the United States better than Biden, while 31% of Americans express the opinion that the current President of the United States will cope with this task better.

The survey was conducted online from July 19 to 20 and included 1,141 U.S. citizens. The statistical error does not exceed 3.1 percentage points.
