The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah said it attacked Israeli headquarters with a squadron of dive-bombing drones.

“Fighters of the Islamic Resistance (Hezbollah) carried out an aerial attack on the new headquarters of the 91st Division on Sunday with a squadron of dive drones,” the movement said in a statement.

The situation on the Israeli-Lebanese border worsened after the start of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The Israeli army and Lebanese Hezbollah fighters daily fire at each other’s positions in areas along the border. According to the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, about 100 thousand people were forced to leave their homes in southern Lebanon due to Israeli shelling. The Israeli side reported about 80 thousand residents of northern Israel who found themselves in a similar situation.

Over the past few days, the Israeli military has reported killing a number of senior Hezbollah commanders and operatives in airstrikes in southern Lebanon. The movement responds to each liquidation with massive shelling of northern Israel with the launch of dozens of rockets and drones. Often shelling from Lebanon leads to fires in northern Israel, where hundreds of hectares of land have already been scorched.

In mid-June, the Israeli military command announced the approval of combat plans for an offensive in Lebanon. After this, the country’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz threatened the destruction of Hezbollah and serious damage to Lebanon in the event of a full-scale war, adding that Israel is close to the moment of making a decision that will change the rules on the northern front. In turn, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrullah said on June 19 that the movement could invade northern Israel if the confrontation further intensifies.
