Robert Fico was wounded after a government retreat. The attacker shot several times and was detained by the police.

According to media reports, citing witnesses, the incident occurred when the politician came out to the public, after the shooting he fell to the ground. He was wounded in the abdominal cavity and chest.

Now the prime minister is being taken by helicopter to a hospital in Bratislava. His condition is reported to be serious.

Fico has repeatedly opposed providing military assistance to Ukraine. He also noted that he did not support this country’s membership in NATO and would use the right of veto if such an issue was considered.

In addition, the prime minister stated that Bratislava is interested in good relations with Moscow and promised to take steps in this direction. He called dialogue between the two countries necessary and rejected the idea that, because of the conflict in Ukraine, it is necessary to pretend that Russia does not exist.
