The United States reported launching missiles towards its ship from Yemeni territory.

Two ballistic missiles were launched from Yemen towards the US Navy ship USS Mason after it arrived to help the hijacked Central Park tanker, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

“On November 27, two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen towards the general location of the USS Mason (DDG 87) and the USS Central Park,” it was said in a social media X.

According to CENTCOM, the missiles landed in the Gulf of Aden about ten nautical miles from the ships as the US aircraft carrier was completing its response to the tanker’s distress call. None of the ships were damaged.

On Sunday, the Associated Press reported that the Israeli-linked tanker Central Park, which was carrying phosphoric acid and owned by Zodiac Maritime, was seized off the coast of Yemen. Later, American media reported that the US Navy ship responded to a distress signal from the vessel, it was not captured and was safe.

According to Fox News, five alleged pirates who attacked the Central Park tanker off the coast of Yemen were detained and interrogated by the US military; the crew and cargo on the ship were not harmed. CENTCOM confirmed that the USS Mason came to its aid.
