The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called the statements of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, that Baku is trying to achieve “destabilization of Armenia” unacceptable and inadequate.

At a press conference on Monday after a meeting of the EU Foreign Relations Council in Brussels, Borrell said the EU had clearly warned Azerbaijan that any violation of Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was unacceptable and would lead to “severe consequences” for Baku. During his speech, he also accused Baku of trying to “destabilize Armenia.” Borrell noted that in this regard, the EU gave a “clear signal” to Azerbaijan.

“The accusations against Azerbaijan, voiced on November 13 by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, at a press conference after a meeting of the EU Foreign Relations Council in Brussels, do not reflect the realities in the region, are inadequate and unacceptable. Against the backdrop of the indifference of the European Union to almost 30 years of military aggression by Armenia against Azerbaijan… expressions of support for Armenia and accusations against Azerbaijan are a clear example of the bias and double standards of this structure,” the message says.


According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, “as can be seen from the hypocritical approaches of the European External Action Service in this and other regions, this institution has become a victim of wrong steps.
