WHO is concerned about reports of strikes in the Al-Shifa hospital area.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is “extremely concerned” by reports of airstrikes near the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

Earlier, NBC News, citing a hospital doctor, reported that bombing was heard near the facility on Friday evening.

“We are extremely concerned by reports of airstrikes in the area of Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. Many health workers we contacted were forced to leave the hospital for safety. Others report being unable to move due to the grave danger. Many thousands sheltering in the hospital are forced to evacuate due to security risks and many are still staying there,” the WHO head wrote on his social media page X.

Earlier, the head of the press service of the Gaza government, Salama Maaruf, told Al Jazeera that thirteen people were killed and dozens were injured as a result of an Israeli strike on the Al-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip.
