An Indian driver from US President Joe Biden’s motorcade in Delhi was suspended from work for giving a lift to a private client.

A security official said that India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs hired several private cars for Biden’s motorcade, and the United States also bought 60 cars to transport the country’s entourage.

“There is one car with a Haryana registration number, the driver of which was part of Biden’s advance motorcade. This car had several stickers indicating that it belonged to Biden’s motorcade and it was supposed to be at the Maurya Hotel, where the US President was staying. But “On Saturday morning around 8 a.m., the driver received a call from his regular passenger and asked him to take him to the Taj Mansingh Hotel. Biden’s motorcade was supposed to start moving around 9-9.30 a.m., so he decided to give a ride to his regular passenger,” the official said.

Security officials stopped the vehicle in the city after they saw several Maurya Hotel pass stickers and Biden’s convoy paraphernalia on the vehicle.

The driver and the businessman were interrogated by a security officer and stated that they did not know about the protocol.

He noted that the chief of protocol of the Indian Foreign Ministry was informed about the incident, after which this car was removed from Biden’s motorcade. Security officers also removed all stickers from the vehicle. After questioning, the driver and his client were released and no charges were filed against them.
