Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he plans to discuss the resumption of the grain deal with UN Secretary General António Guterres during the UN General Assembly in New York.

“The resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative is a priority for the whole world. We are in close contact with the United Nations on this issue. As you already know, the UN General Assembly will be held this month. We will have meetings there with Mr. Guterres, and we will also We will discuss these issues. I would like to once again express that we appreciate and support the efforts of the Secretary General, Mr. Guterres,” Erdogan told reporters on the plane after returning from Sochi.


Presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the situation around the grain deal and other issues at a meeting in Sochi on Monday. Putin said that Russia would start delivering free grain to six African countries in two or three weeks. Erdogan noted that Ankara is ready to assist in the processing of Russian grain for further shipment to countries in need and hopes for the joint implementation of steps to deliver food to African countries.
