Chongar Bridge damaged more than expected

The acting governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, said that the Chongarsky bridge was damaged much more than expected.

Unfortunately, the bridge is damaged much more seriously than we initially thought. The bridge in the next 15-20 days — even, maybe more, while work is being carried out there, they are investigating what to do with it — is unsuitable for movement,” said Saldo.

The AFU fired at the Chongar Bridge early on Thursday morning. According to the UK, four rockets were fired at him, one of them hit the roadbed. According to media reports, it is known that there are no victims or injured.

Due to the missile strike on the bridge, traffic flows between the Crimea and the Kherson region had to be changed, and the movement of vehicles along the reserve route was temporarily organized.

The Crimean authorities stressed that the shelling of the bridge will not seriously disrupt the logistics of the land transport corridor, since the regions are connected by three checkpoints: two in the Armyansk area and one in the Dzhankoy area.
According to the forecast of the Minister of Transport of the Republic Nikolay Lukashenko, it will take several weeks to restore the Chongar Bridge.
