Nine people have been detained in China after a gas cylinder exploded in a restaurant.

Nine people, including the owner of a restaurant where a gas cylinder exploded, have been detained in China after the incident claimed the lives of 31 people, China Central Television reported, citing local authorities.

Earlier, it was reported that at 8:40 pm local time on Wednesday, a restaurant in Yinchuan City in northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region leaked liquefied petroleum gas and led to an explosion, injuring 38 people, including 31 could not be saved. Later, Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered to strengthen control at key facilities, effectively prevent the occurrence of accidents in production.


According to television, law enforcement detained 9 people in the case, including the owner of the diner where the incident occurred, his companion and staff members.


It is reported that the residents of the houses located next to the restaurant were placed in nearby hotels, and also provided them with psychological assistance.
