Lavrov urges Biden office to avoid Middle East escapades

Russi’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has recommended to the incoming Joe Biden office to avoid the foreign ‘adventures’ in the Middle East, RT Arabic has reported.

The press conference with Iraqi foreign minister Fuad Mohammad Hussein has included one recommendation from Sergei Lavrov to Biden’s administration. The top Russian diplomat pointed out the potential threats to the Middle Eastern region from sharp moves possibly made by the Oval Office.

Sergei Lavrov has warned on relations between the Arab states and Israel as well: “We discussed the situation regarding the Arab-Israeli struggle,” he said.

“We think that the Trump administration’s initiatives to normalise relations between Arab states and Israel are isolated. Aside from their positive aspects, they should not be an alternative to a just reconciliation of the Palestinian cause,” the Russian foreign minister said on Thursday.

Mr Lavrov was referring to the normalisation deals agreed by the UAE and Bahrain with Israel over the past few months, brokered by the White House. However, no details of the so-called Abraham Accords have been revealed.
