Jordan faces full curfew in COVID hotspots

Jordan’s government announced the full curfew to avoid the COVID-19 spreading in some hotspots. As ArabNews says, it will be brought into force from August 28.

The Jordanian health authorities have detected 19 residential buildings in the cities Amman and Zarqa where the novel pathogen was discovered. To avoid the further spreading of COVID-19, these buildings were marked as the ‘hotspots’ and isolated.

The Amman authorities find an idea to isolate suspicious buildings reasonable. That preventive measure allows controlling the pace of infection’s spreading.

According to the Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh, it was planned for the curfew to be brought into force from next Friday. The local residents also were banned from mass gatherings in public places like churches to protect believers from virus transmission.

Curfew hours will be extended across the country from Aug. 25 from 10 p.m. for facilities and 11 p.m. for citizens – running until 6 a.m., Adaileh indicated.

In fact, there is not the first such isolation in Jordan. That preventive measure has been imposed on Ar-Ramtha city will be lifted on August 25. Furthermore, the governor of Amman said the decision to isolate the building came after a recommendation from the Minister of Health, to enable corona teams to test those who were in contact with the infected people.

The buildings in those 19 hotspots were disinfected to prevent further spread of the virus, Amman Governor Saad Al-Shehab assured. The official added that all precautionary measures were taken and a police patrol has been making sure nobody leaves or enters the buildings.

Amman Governor also said the sites would remain under quarantine until the results of sample tests were announced.
