Georgina Chapman has broken her silence after the most powerful Hollywood scandal with her estranged husband in the centre of it. She preferred not to say anything since last October but the world is changing so fast, so it is time to reveal the thoughts and vision, decided Georgina and gave an interview for Vogue’s June issue.
In October 2017, when the allegations against Harvey Weinstein landed Chapman was in a kind of stupor. According to her, she lost ten pounds in five days, she was not to able to absorb the information as well as couldn’t make an informed decision.
“And then the stories expanded and I realized that this wasn’t an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here,”
Georgina revealed in her interview with Vogue.
Then she made a hard decision to flee to Los Angeles with two small children, while her partner, Keren Craig, did her best to steady the ship and to keep their business alive. Chapman confessed she had “what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life.” Asked if she had suspicions about her husband’s behaviour, she says:
“Absolutely not. Never.”
Harvey’s estranged wife revealed she was terribly naive, “clearly, so naive,” but the consequences of Weinstein’s behaviour were awful for the entire family. As Georgina recalls,
“I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief! And I have moments when I just cry for my children. What are their lives going to be? What are people going to say to them?”
Whatever it be, Georgina understood their two small kids love father, and she just can’t bear all this nightmare for them.

For Georgina Chapman, those months since last October were the hardest time, her fashion line, Marchesa, which she co-founded with Keren Craig, cancelled its show for February’s New York Fashion Week, and Marchesa gowns were nowhere to be seen at awards shows like the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
Now, Georgina is doing her best to move forward, she is responsible for her own life, her kids also need a normal life. On Wednesday, Vogue’s powerful editor in chief Anna Wintour made a point of mentioning Chapman on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, calling Chapman a “brilliant designer” who should not be punished for her husband’s behaviour.
“I believe that one should not hold a person responsible for the actions of his or her partner. What Georgina should be receiving is our compassion and understanding,”
Dame Wintour said.
