Jonathan Rhys Meyers, The Tudors star, joins Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson in period drama ‘The Aspern Papers’.
The British actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a gifted dramatic performer, Woody Allen highly appreciated an actors’ skills – their collaboration in “Match Point” (2005) was astounding. Rhys Meyers’ notable film credits include “Vanity Fair,” “Mission: Impossible III,” and action drama with “From Paris With Love” where he played alongside John Travolta.
The upcoming movie ‘The Aspen Papers’ is set in Venice in 1885 with Rhys Meyers portraying Morton Vint, an ambiguous young writer and publisher fascinated by iconic romantic poet Jeffrey Aspern as he strives to get his hands on the letters Aspern wrote to his beautiful mistress, Juliana (Redgrave). Now, decades later, Juliana lives in a Venetian palazzo with her niece (Richardson), whom Morton tries to seduce.
It is thrilling to watch any intrigue, in which Jonathan plays, his performing in The Tudors was amazing, his King Henry VIII became undoubtedly the best one among other adaptations.
The role of talented, sly, smart writer in an adaptation of the Henry James novel suits Rhys Meyers perfectly. The cast includes also Jon Kortajarena, Barbara Meier and Poppy Delevingne, the young actors and models who are lucky to play alongside the legend of the world cinema, Vanessa Redgrave.
