Mike Pence: ‘Era of strategic patience’ is over with North Korea

Mike Pence announced that the US has lost the patience with North Korea, and ‘era of strategic patience is over’. VP’s statement was dramatic and expressed the strong willingness to protect South Korea and stabilise the region.

US Vice President was visiting the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) between two Koreas, in the Camp Bonifas, Pence met with American soldiers and other military officials.

According to Pence’s statement, the US is no longer intending to be patient with the North Korea that persistently moves toward ridding itself of nuclear weapons. Its ballistic missiles’ launches time by time are destabilising the situation in the region, and it is inappropriate. Vice President noted that US president hopes the China Republic will use their ‘extraordinary’ arguments to pressure the aggressive neighbour to decrease its militarising activity and abandon the missiles.

Citing VP, “the era of strategic patience is over”, the US and its allies are going to multiply their efforts for stabilising the situation in the region through the complex of the “peaceable means or ultimately by whatever means are necessary”.

Pence’s 10-day tour of Asia comes as tensions grow in the wake of North Korea’s latest missile test.
