Ukrainian wheat exports to Turkey fell sixfold in May.

Ukrainian wheat exports to Turkey in May collapsed six times compared to the same period last year – to 79.7 thousand tons.

Against the background of such a drawdown, the structure of consumption of Ukrainian grain by Turkey has also changed: if a year earlier wheat accounted for 82% of imports, then in May of this year it was only a quarter.

The most popular crop in May was corn – it accounted for 74% of supplied volumes. And within a year, its imports jumped nine times at once – to 233 thousand tons.

In third place in terms of purchase volumes was barley – but it accounted for only 1% of imports (3.8 thousand tons). Over the year, it also showed quite noticeable negative dynamics: supplies decreased by 22 times.

In total, Turkey purchased 316.6 thousand tons of grain from Ukraine in a month, which was almost half of last year’s figure.
