Polish President Andrzej Duda plans to pay a visit to the United States in the near future, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told reporters, answering a question about the head of state’s intentions to meet with the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump.

“The President warned me that his visit to the United States is very likely soon. I will keep my fingers crossed,” he said, noting that Duda and Trump have a good relationship.

“We can use this together to benefit Polish-American negotiations, especially in the context of Ukraine,” he added.

According to Tusk, they agreed with Duda “to agree on a common position during possible contacts with President-elect Trump.”

Earlier, Gazeta Wyborcza, citing unofficial sources, reported that Duda was due to fly to the United States on Friday evening to meet with Trump at his private residence Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Hungarian President Viktor Orban was also supposed to be there.

It was noted that the President of Poland did not consult with the government on his trip to the United States.

Later, the head of the Bureau of International Policy of the President of Poland, Mieszko Pawlak, denied information that Duda was flying to the United States on Friday.
