Finland, if necessary, can mobilize 280 thousand troops in a week,  the British newspaper Independent said, citing the country’s President Alexander Stubb.

Finland’s 280,000-strong armed forces could be mobilized and “armed to the teeth” within a week, Stubb said.

The publication notes that Finland has recently begun to increase investments in defense; since 2022, Helsinki’s annual expenditures in this area have increased by almost 0.9% of GDP.

The Finnish Ministry of Defense reported in December that Helsinki’s defense spending in 2025 would amount to 2.5% of GDP, and NATO membership would cost the country €158 million. Finland joined the North Atlantic Alliance on April 4, 2023.
