The WHO mission delivered aid to Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

A mission led by the World Health Organization (WHO) delivered medical aid to the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, Al-Shifa, WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on his social media page.

“A team of UN experts led by WHO delivered essential medical supplies to Al-Shifa Hospital today,” Ghebreyesus wrote.

The head of WHO noted that the hospital is trying to resume its activities, but the situation remains “incredibly difficult and chaotic”: it is still impossible to perform surgical operations in the hospital and there is no blood for transfusions.

Ghebreyesus said that at the moment only 8 hospitals out of 36 are partially operating in the Gaza Strip; the enclave’s health care system, according to him, has been undermined. He also pointed to the increasingly serious food shortages in the Gaza Strip, which are causing hunger throughout the region.
