The United States has signed a contract for the production of shipborne air defense and missile defense radars.

The United States has signed a contract worth nearly $678 million with defense industrial company Raytheon to produce air and missile defense radars for the US Navy, the Pentagon said.

“Raytheon has received a fixed-price modification to a $677.7 million contract for the production of equipment for the AN/SPY-6(V) family of radars,” the department said in a statement.

The work will be carried out at production sites in various states of the country and should be completed by September 2028.

The AN/SPY-6 air and missile defense radars are designed for installation on US Navy ships and are an American radar system for warning of missile attacks and guiding its own anti-aircraft, anti-ship and anti-submarine missiles.
