The United States approved a bill to deprive China of the status of a developing country.

The House of Representatives of the US Congress unanimously voted for a bill that requires the secretary of state to work to deprive China of the status of a developing country within the framework of international organizations, the Hill newspaper writes.

It is noted that 415 people voted for the act “China is not a developing country” (PRC Is Not a Developing Country Act).

“The bill directs the Secretary of State to ‘seek’ a change in China’s status … to (status) an upper-middle-income, high-income, or developed country in international organizations that include both the United States and China,” the publication said.

According to the document, the head of the State Department must also ensure that the PRC does not receive assistance or preferences due to the status of a developing country.
