The UN interim force will remain in positions in Lebanon.

The UN Interim Force (UNIFIL) remains in its positions in southern Lebanon despite recommendations from the Israeli army to redeploy from a number of settlements, peacekeeping spokesman Andrea Tenenti said.

Earlier, a number of media reported that the Israeli side recommended the peacekeeping forces to redeploy from some positions in southern Lebanon.

“Peacekeepers remain in all positions and the UN flag continues to fly. We regularly adjust our actions and we have contingency plans, and we will use them if the need arises,”  Tenenti said in a statement.
