The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Azerbaijan is forced to take measures regarding Karabakh.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry, commenting on the situation in Karabakh, stated that Baku is forced to take measures on its territory that it considers necessary; the foreign ministry notes that the only path to peace in the region is result-oriented negotiations between Baku and Yerevan.

“In response to many years of armed attacks and provocations against military personnel and security forces of Azerbaijan by illegitimate Armenian armed formations in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, today (September 19) the Azerbaijani army launched an anti-terrorist operation aimed exclusively against military formations. In almost three years, “After the end of the second Karabakh war, Azerbaijan is forced to take measures on its sovereign territory that it considers necessary as a result of the dissatisfaction of its legitimate and justified concerns with the situation on the ground,” the statement said.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry believes that “a result-oriented continuation of the comprehensive negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which is still being scrupulously conducted, is the only way to establish peace, security, prosperity and lasting stability in the region.”
