The Prime Minister of Georgia promised to investigate the circumstances of the 2008 conflict.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the country’s leadership can use different types of legal forms to clarify the circumstances of the military conflict in 2008, when the Georgian army, on the orders of then-President Mikheil Saakashvili, attacked South Ossetia.

On August 8, flags over government buildings in Georgia were flown at half-staff in memory of the victims of the 2008 military conflict.

“The legal form can be different: an appeal to the prosecutor’s office, a parliamentary investigative commission, an appeal to the constitutional court – all tools can be used. The public will receive information about all this. But the main thing is that the crime of 2008, committed by the regime of Saakashvili’s “National Movement”, was completely investigated,” Kobakhidze told reporters.
