The President of Cuba will attend the BRICS summit.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez will attend the BRICS summit, the head of state himself announced on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

“For the first time Cuba will participate in the BRICS summit,” he wrote.

The President said that, in addition to South Africa, where the summit will be held, he will also visit Angola, Mozambique and Namibia.

In early August, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor announced that the leaders of 23 countries had officially expressed their desire to join the BRICS, among them she named Cuba.

BRICS unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but recently at least 19 states have expressed their desire to join the economic bloc, including Argentina, Iran, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
