Coordination problems between the United States and allies are hampering aid to Ukraine, according to a report by the Pentagon’s inspector general.

“The audit found that although the Department of Defense coordinated at multiple levels with partner countries, Ukraine’s requests for military equipment and assistance, problems hampered coordination and impacted effectiveness,” the inspector general’s report said.

Earlier, in another report, the Pentagon inspector general warned that American weapons transferred to Ukraine would not last long without a plan for their maintenance, which jeopardizes the ability of Ukraine and the United States itself to respond to national security threats. Previously, the auditor had already criticized the lack of plans for the maintenance of American weapons transferred to Kyiv. In a report in February, he said that the transfer of the Patriot missile defense system, Bradley and Stryker armored vehicles, and Abrams tanks was not accompanied by a systematic development of measures for their maintenance, so the systems and weapons become useless. Storch emphasized that this lack of foresight is troubling.
