The operation of the Israeli military in Jenin has ended, the representative of the Israeli army said.

“The operation is officially over, the soldiers have left the Jenin area,” she said.


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who visited the Salem checkpoint near Jenin, announced the end of the counter-terrorist operation the day before. He warned that this was not a one-time action.

 


On Monday night, the Israeli army announced the start of a large-scale counter-terrorist operation in Jenin and the refugee camp of the same name. On the first day, airstrikes were carried out on the infrastructure of the militants. It was reported that large IDF forces entered the city, after which armed clashes between the security forces and the Palestinians began.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, during the operation, eleven people were killed and more than 100 were injured. The Red Crescent Organization announced the evacuation of hundreds of families from the refugee camp.

Earlier it became known that the leadership of the Palestinian Authority stopped all contacts with Israel in the light of the military operation in Jenin.
