Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani held a series of contacts with the leadership of Arab countries on the situation in Palestine and the search for ways to de-escalate it; the pan-Arab position is to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the press secretary of the Iraqi prime minister, Hisham al-Ruqabi said.

“The Prime Minister held a number of contacts with the leadership of Arab countries to discuss events in Palestine, ways to de-escalate the situation and overcome the current crisis,” al-Ruqabi said.

The position of the Arab countries is clear and is to support the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people,” he added.

Earlier on Saturday, Iraqi government spokesman Bassem al-Awadi said Iraq was calling for an urgent convening of a meeting of the League of Arab States (LAS) on the situation in the Palestinian territories amid the worsening Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
