The head of the German Ministry of Economics named the reason for the deterioration of relations with China.

Sino-German relations are suffering a negative impact due to China’s support for the Russian Federation, this may continue to have negative economic consequences, German Economics Minister Robert Habeck said during a meeting with the head of the State Committee for Development and Reform of the People’s Republic of China Zheng Shanjie.

“We would act differently and probably not so harshly, analyzing where we have dependence on raw materials and technical goods, if this war or, in other words, Chinese support for Russia in this war did not exist,” Habeck said.

The minister warned China about the economic consequences of supporting the Russian Federation.

“Our relationship, our immediate relationship, has already been negatively impacted,” he added.

Earlier, the German publication Welt reported that Habeck, as part of his trip to China, was counting on a meeting with the Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang, but it will not take place for reasons unknown to him.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in response to accusations from Western countries, states that it takes a fair and objective position on the situation in Ukraine, and also adheres to a prudent and responsible approach to the export of weapons and dual-use goods in accordance with laws and regulations. In April, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the United States provides military assistance to Ukraine, but criticizes the normal cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China; he called this hypocrisy and a typical example of double standards. Beijing also warned the United States that denigrating others and blaming them would not solve the Ukrainian crisis.
