The Haitian opposition called for protests.

The leader of Haiti’s radical opposition platform “Piti Desalins” and former senator Jean-Charles Moise called on the country’s population to demonstrate in order to remove the current government of Ariel Henry.

Moïse emphasized the purpose of the demonstrations: to remove Henri’s government and end the dominance of the bourgeoisie.

Moiz called on the population to block all government institutions and “ruled out the possibility of peaceful demonstrations.”

The radical opposition is said to be planning to “paralyze” Haiti through these demonstrations, which Moïse called for to begin on January 29 throughout the country.

Haiti has been experiencing a decades-long socio-political crisis that has worsened since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021.

Since then, the inaction of the authorities has led to an unprecedented increase in the influence of gangster groups that engage in extortion, kidnapping for ransom and control entire areas of the country, including fuel terminals.
