The Danish ambassador was called to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry because of the burning of the Koran in Copenhagen.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has summoned the Danish ambassador because of the repeated burning of the Koran in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Over the past week, the radical group “Danish Patriots” has carried out several actions with the burning of the Koran at the embassies of Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan in Copenhagen. Three times the radicals burned copies of the holy book of Muslims at the Iraqi diplomatic mission.

On Thursday, on behalf of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri, the Danish ambassador to Cairo was summoned to the ministry’s headquarters, according to the statement.

“He was informed that Egypt strongly condemns, outrages and completely rejects at the official and popular levels the Koran burning incidents that have recently occurred in front of the buildings of foreign diplomatic missions in Denmark, including the Egyptian embassy in Copenhagen,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.
