The leaders of the BRICS countries support efforts for a political settlement of the Syrian conflict, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, according to a declaration adopted at the end of the summit in Johannesburg.

“We support all efforts to promote a negotiated political solution that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria… We welcome the return of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Arab League,” the declaration says.
