The American operator AT&T admitted a data leak of 73 million customers.

The American telecom operator AT&T admitted the leak of personal data of 73 million of its customers.

The press release said that two weeks ago, personalized information related to the company’s 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former subscribers, including Social Security numbers, appeared on the dark web.

“At this time, AT&T does not see any signs of unauthorized access to its systems that would lead to the extraction of the data set. The company is proactively engaging with those affected by (the leak),” the statement said.

Experts believe that the database found on the darknet dates back to 2019. AT&T cannot yet determine whether the leak occurred within itself or through a dealer network.
