Sandu will miss Moldova’s Independence Day due to coronavirus.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu will not be able to participate in events dedicated to the republic’s Independence Day due to the coronavirus, her head of administration Adrian Balutel said on Monday.

According to the Republic’s Ministry of Health, last week in Moldova the number of COVID-19 cases increased by 60% compared to the previous week and amounted to 2,213.

“The President announced that she has contracted the coronavirus and will not take part in events dedicated to Independence Day,” Balutsel wrote on his Telegram channel.


Independence Day is celebrated on August 27 and this year will be accompanied by three days of celebrations.
