Robot given Saudi citizenship ‘has more rights than women’

Saudi Arabian authorities bestowed the citizenship to the empty-eyed humanoid named Sophia. The Saudi women started to criticise the moment that Android has more rights than women and migrant workers in the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia became the first country that granted its citizenship to the robot, it is an unbelievable news, taking into account that earlier Android promised to ‘kill humans’. This week, Riyadh welcomed the Future Investment Initiative, at which the country unveiled plans to build a $500 billion mega-city.

The human-like robot has sparked an uproar among critics of the kingdom, who point out that the android structure has more rights than women in their country. Sophia looks like Audrey Hepburn, the robot made a brief presentation of itself during the business forum, saying that,

“I am very honored and proud of this unique distinction. This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship,”

robot added. The machine was also interviewed on stage at the event dressed in a suit, without the headscarf or covering that women are required to wear in public places. That moment made Saudi women very angry as well.

Robot Sophia’s history

Sophia, the humanoid, was produced by Hanson Robotics, a company from Hong Kong. The creators decided that the female android will look like the Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn. In fact, the humanoid looks like a woman,  not Audrey Hepburn.

Presenting the android at the Future Investment Initiative, the engineers left the heard of this smart doll uncovered. The guests could see the details in robot’s head. Regarding the Saudi Arabia’s citizenship, the humanoid didn’t elaborate on the details.
