Qatar and the UAE resume mutual work of diplomatic missions.

The diplomatic missions of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will start operating in Doha and Abu Dhabi with Dubai from June 19 after the full restoration of diplomatic relations interrupted six years ago, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a message posted on Twitter on Monday.

“Based on the desire of the two countries to strengthen relations, the states of Qatar and the UAE announce the restoration of diplomatic missions, in particular, the Qatari embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate general in Dubai, as well as the UAE embassy in Doha, starting from Monday, June 19. The parties confirm that this step is aimed … at strengthening joint Arab activities,” the Qatar Foreign Ministry said.

The UAE severed diplomatic relations with Qatar in June 2017, accusing it, along with other Gulf states, of supporting terrorism. At the beginning of 2021, the Arab countries decided to reconcile with Qatar and open a new page in the history of relations.
