Passengers on a stuck train in France were left without heating overnight.

Passengers on a train stuck for five hours en route from Paris to Clermont-Ferrand were left without power and heating for several hours due to power failures.

For more than two hours, 700 passengers were left without heating in the middle of the night due to a power failure. As a result, the train arrived at its destination at 6.20 am, about 10 hours after departure.

The train left Paris at 6:57 p.m. local time but stopped at Nogent-sur-Vernisson, south of the capital, at about 8:30 p.m. Passengers were informed of a short half-hour delay, which in reality would last about five hours. From about 10:15 p.m., they were left without electricity and heating for two hours in the cold due to power failures.

“Firefighters and the Red Cross arrived at the scene to distribute rescue blankets, food and water,” the media clarifies.

According to the National Railway Company (SNCF), the cause of the incident was a faulty locomotive. So, passengers had to wait until approximately 01.00 until a working locomotive arrived from Paris, after which the train headed to Clermont-Ferrand. SNCF apologized to passengers and promised compensation.
