Orban spoke about Hungary’s position on participation in NATO actions outside its borders.

Lawyers are now working to ensure that Hungary, while remaining a NATO member, does not have to take part in the alliance’s activities outside its territory, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Radio Kossuth.

“Lawyers are doing quite serious work, studying how Hungary can be a member of NATO and at the same time not participate in NATO actions outside the territory of the alliance. This is something that Hungarian diplomacy needs to solve,” Orban said.

According to him, when creating the alliance, “there was no question that NATO would carry out actions outside its territory and start a war outside the alliance.”

Orbán also said that Brussels had come up with a new term to describe Hungary’s position – “non-participant”.
