Mexico announced its desire to increase the supply of tequila to Russia.

Mexico would like to increase the supply of tequila to Russia, primarily through small local producers, the country’s ambassador to Moscow, Eduardo Villegas Mejias said.

“I would be happy to increase this number (exports of tequila) by 200-300%, because it has proven itself very well in the market. But this is all impossible, because most of the tequila is already destined for other markets, primarily for the United States. Therefore, we are not interested in large tequila producers, but in those who have plantations of agave, what tequila is made from, in small factories that could be imported to Russia,” the diplomat said.

Increasing the export of tequila to Russia is the easiest way to increase mutual trade, the ambassador is sure.

Eduardo Villegas Mejias drew attention to another strong drink made from agave – mezcal. According to the ambassador, mezcal is gradually beginning to be “recognized” in Russian restaurants.
