Mali’s permanent representative to the UN accused the West of fueling terrorism in the Sahel.

Mali’s permanent representative to the UN accused the West of fueling terrorism in the Sahel.

A significant part of the weapons supplied by the West to Ukraine fuels terrorism in the Sahel and increases the risk of destabilization in the region, said Mali’s permanent representative to the UN, Issa Confourou.

“A significant portion of the weapons supplied to Ukraine ultimately fuel terrorism and crime in the Sahel, which risks further destabilizing our country and exacerbating the suffering of our people,” Confourou said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

Mali calls on countries that supply weapons to Kyiv to ensure that they do not fall into the hands of terrorists in Africa, he stressed.

Earlier, a letter was obtained in which Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso ask the UN Security Council to take action against Ukraine due to Kiev’s support for terrorism in Africa, especially in the Sahel.
