American doctors and pharmacists are asking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to stop selling “Theraflu” and a number of other remedies for cold symptoms due to ineffectiveness.

Studies have shown that drugs such as Theraflu, Benadryl, Guaifenesin and Tylenol do not work.

The phenylephrine which they contain is reported to be safe, but studies have shown it does not relieve nasal congestion.
