Harris intends to increase resources to fight drug cartels.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said on Monday that if she wins the November 5 election, she plans to double the Justice Department’s resources to combat transnational drug cartels.

“As president, I will double the resources for the Justice Department to combat transnational cartels and take action to stop fentanyl flowing into our country,” Harris said at a campaign event.

At the same time, she accused her Republican election rival Donald Trump of inaction on the issue of eliminating problems at the US border.

The United States is experiencing a deep synthetic drug crisis—fentanyl overdose is one of the leading causes of death among young people. At the end of July, American authorities announced the arrest of two leaders of the largest Mexican drug cartel, Sinaloa, Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada Garcia and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of Joaquin “Shorty” Guzman.
