The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Saturday announced its disagreement with Republican opponent Donald Trump’s decision to host the Sept. 4 debate on Fox News and called on him to honor previous agreements.
⠀
“He needs to stop playing games and come to the debate on September 10th as he promised. The Vice President will be there anyway to take advantage of the opportunity to address the nation in prime time,” the campaign wrote on social media X.
⠀
As the election team noted, Trump is afraid and that is why he previously said that the debate should take place on September 4 on Fox News, a television channel close to the Republicans.
⠀
“We would be happy to discuss further rounds of debates after the one that both campaigns have already agreed to,” the campaign added in response to Trump’s statements that there should be more debates, not just those scheduled for early September.
⠀
Trump and Harris have been unable to agree on the date and channel of the debate for weeks now. The second round of debates was originally supposed to take place on September 10 on ABC, but then the plans included the participation of current US President Joe Biden, who has since decided to withdraw from the race. In this regard, Trump said that the previous agreements were no longer relevant, and accused the ABC television channel of sympathizing with Democrats and spreading fake news.
