Guinea is studying the possibility of building a nuclear power plant with the participation of Russia.

Guinea has expressed a desire to cooperate with the Russian company Rosatom in the field of nuclear energy, is exploring the possibility of building nuclear power plants on its territory, Nyankoy Aba, Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea in Moscow, said.

“We expressed a desire to cooperate with Rosatom, we are considering areas in which it is possible. Development requires energy, and for this we must carry out electrification,” the head of the diplomatic mission said.

He noted that the construction of a nuclear power plant, according to representatives of Rosatom, requires large investments, but the embassy understands that there is potential in this area.

“So far, we are at the stage of collecting information about such projects. The electricity consumed by the population of Guinea is subsidized by more than 90% from the budget, which is why our country needs cheaper energy,” Aba concluded.
