Germany has announced its unwillingness to counter cyber threats.

The head of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) of Germany, Claudia Plattner, said in an interview that the country is currently “not ready to confront cyber threats.”

In an interview, Plattner noted that to prevent cyberattacks, authorities must “act from the very first second” and present a big picture of the situation.

“If necessary, it is necessary to convene crisis groups and combine the capabilities of the federal government and the authorities of the federal states. We are not ready for all this today; such coordination with each other has not been worked out,” Plattner said.

The head of the department also emphasized that there should not be a need to call each other 16 times to find out “what is happening in which federal state.”

“There are no… structures that would guarantee our ability to coordinate our actions in a crisis like this,” Plattner explained, saying it was “absolutely necessary” to create them.
