Germany approved a project on additional military assistance to Ukraine.

Germany approved a project on additional military assistance to Ukraine.

The German parliament approved a project previously submitted for approval on additional military assistance to Ukraine worth 400 million euros, General Christian Freuding, head of the special headquarters for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, told.

“The Bundestag has just allocated us an additional 400 million euros for 2024 alone, which will allow us to implement a total of 50 projects this year totaling 1.4 billion euros,” he answered when asked whether those supporting Kyiv were not observing countries are tired of war.

Freuding recalled that the US government, in turn, promised to allocate another eight billion euros to help Ukraine.

“For me, this is not a sign of fatigue, but a sign of determination,” he says.

The military man noted that Germany last week delivered two air defense systems Iris-T SLM and SLS to Ukraine.

“By the end of this year, we will deliver two more air defense systems, a double-digit number of infantry fighting vehicles and tanks, as well as a five-six-digit number of artillery ammunition. This is really a lot,” he added.

Earlier, the German Cabinet of Ministers confirmed that a project on additional military assistance to Ukraine worth 397 million euros had been submitted to the German parliament for approval.

In August, German media reported that Germany was forced to reduce military assistance to Ukraine, since, according to the current budget planning of the German government, no new funds are now allocated for these purposes. It was clarified that already approved deliveries will still be carried out, but additional requests from the German Ministry of Defense will no longer have to be approved, according to the order of the German Chancellor. Later, Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured that Germany would remain the largest donor of aid to Ukraine in Europe.
