Finland will provide the US with access to 15 military installations.

The Finnish Parliament has approved a defense agreement with the United States, under which the American side will be given access to 15 military facilities.

“Parliament has approved the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between Finland and the United States,” the local mass media says.

The document also provides for the deployment of equipment and resources on Finnish territory, access and movement of American aircraft, ships and vehicles. In addition, Helsinki undertakes to ensure the security of US forces, facilities and territories that they use.

As the Finnish Foreign Ministry noted, the document does not imply the permanent presence of American troops; if deployed, they will be in the country on a rotational basis.

In mid-June, a similar agreement with the United States was approved by the Swedish Parliament.
