Filippo called on France to leave NATO after Rutte’s appointment.

French politician, leader of the Patriots party, Florian Philippot, on social media called on France to leave the “organization of war,” NATO, after the appointment of outgoing Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte to the post of Secretary General of the alliance.

“This is the man who fired live ammunition at anti-pass protesters (at the January 2021 anti-government demonstration in Amsterdam against Rutte’s cabinet and pandemic restrictions), the man who incited the largest farmers’ uprising in Dutch history, the man who, without the approval of his parliament supplied Ukraine with F16 combat aircraft (the first in the world!) Let’s leave this war organization as quickly as possible! Free France will defend its interests and peace,” the politician wrote.

On Wednesday, NATO ambassadors agreed on the candidacy of Mark Rutte as the next secretary general of the alliance for the next four years.

Jens Stoltenberg, who has held the position of NATO Secretary General since 2014, was supposed to leave his post on October 1, 2022, but in March 2022, the leaders of the alliance countries during a summit decided to extend his mandate until September 30, 2023, and then for another year. His powers expire on October 1, 2024.
