Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico confirmed that he supported the European Union program to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine.
⠀
Fico previously met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal in Uzhgorod. Following the meeting, Shmygal said that Slovakia promised to support the EU program to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine, which will allow the purchase of weapons and equipment from Slovak companies.
⠀
“We brought humanitarian aid (to the meeting with the Ukrainian prime minister) because we promised Ukraine support in this, I also supported the decision of the European Union to financially assist Ukraine for the next four years in the amount of 50 billion euros,” Fico said.
⠀
According to him, the meeting in Uzhgorod was held in a pragmatic manner, and soon the Ukrainian prime minister may make a return visit to Slovakia to discuss the implementation of joint projects.
⠀
“We will not support the war, there is a problem with Ukraine’s membership in NATO, there are problems with (Ukraine’s) fulfillment of the conditions for joining the European Union, but there are issues in which we, as two neighboring states, must communicate normally,” Fico said .
⠀
Fico previously said that if the EU allocates 50 billion euros to Ukraine, this will entail hundreds of thousands of victims and an improvement in Russia’s negotiating position, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces will definitely not advance to Crimea.
